My name is Johan Peter Jordan Beun, which immediately explains the name of my dream project: Peter Jordans Factory. Both names refer to my respective grandfathers.
I was born and raised in Ghent, Belgium and my musical career started in the early 80’s with pop band Les Charmeurs, which in 1990 reached the semi-final of the Humo’s Rock Ralley. Soon after we partook in the musical project ‘De Zes van Gent’ with 5 other local bands. Later I played in some cover bands, but I mainly play bands with original music.
In 2018, we presented our first project: “We All Love Birdy”. And we breed on other beautiful things. If the wind and the stars are right, it may fly. Into the wide world.
It’s always been my dream to create a cultural blend of different musicians and artists enabling them to influence each other. A type of factory where different styles of music can be ‘produced’ and taking other art forms into the mix.
The background picture of the home page reminds me of the local plant of steel giant Arcelor Mittal in Zelzate. For a short period I worked for this global company, located in the Seaport of Ghent. I find the forging and melting of steel a beautiful metaphor for this project. A factory is also a culture form in itself, the rhythm and sounds can transport you into a trance.
Peter Jordans Factory doesn’t have fixed band members: as the central figure, I research the best participants for each project. Once chosen however, all participants work in equal measures on that particular project.
